Agent Spotlight: Mallory Baird

Updated: Jan 21, 2020

An agent out of our Broadway office location in San Antonio, we caught up with Mallory for some of her insights into the real estate industry and the San Antonio market!

Tell us a little about your background.

I was born and raised in Alamo Heights, but started my real estate career 12 years ago in Austin. I went straight into real estate from college at Texas Christian University.

What about real estate interests you?

I love that is always changing and evolving. From marketing to technology, we have to stay on top of trends and be in the know as to what clients expect from us. I love the relationships I have made with clients as well as assisting my friends and family with buying or selling homes. The real estate process is very personal and it allows me to get to know someone on a deeper level.

Describe your dream property.

An older home that has maintained all of the characteristics from times past with beautiful landscaping, some modern features, a great location, and one that's exquisitely furnished and decorated - add filled with contemporary pieces and antiques.

What are your favorite neighborhoods and why?

Monte Vista - one of the best locations in San Antonio. The neighborhood has sidewalks, restaurants, retail, Landa Library, and more.

What makes your city unique?

San Antonio's culture is unlike any other city in the United States. We have Fiesta, the Riverwalk, Missions, and the best Mexican food in the country.

In such a competitive business, what skills do you believe are necessary to become a successful agent?

A successful agent needs to be personable, educated, driven, honest, and empathetic.

How do you stay on top of trends in real estate?

Staying current on economic trends as well as being involved in productive and informative real estate organizations.

What is one of the most memorable properties from your career?

A very cool and contemporary 3-story home overlooking South Congress in Austin. I sold the property just before Austin exploded into the city it is today. All of the South Congress restaurants and shops were a stone's throw away from this property.

What role has evolving technology played in the industry in your experience?

Technology has helped make the buying/selling process much easier. From showing properties to e-signatures on contracts. Professional photography and videos really help with marketing a property, and the Internet has allowed consumers to explore properties from the comfort of their home.

What is one of the most commonly asked questions from your clients and how do you answer it?

General questions on the process from contract to close. Looking and finding the right property is the easy part, but a trusted Realtor can help navigate their client through the very detailed process of getting the transaction across the finish line.
