Bexar County Displays Continued Strength in County-by-County Comparison



San Antonio home sales in July showed a 25 percent increase over last year, with 4,231 homes sold last month. Overall, the uptick makes for a 4 percent increase in the year-over-year comparison -- 21,032 home sales compared to 20,208 sales in 2019. The Multiple Listing Service Report, provided by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), reports on all areas contained within the MLS.

“The data indicates positive increases throughout home sales showing San Antonio and surrounding areas leading in the market,” said Kim Bragman, SABOR's 2020 Chairman of the Board. "We are working to keep all home buyers and sellers as well-informed as possible, so that no one misses the opportunity to buy their dream home or sell their current home to find their forever home."

Compared to July 2019, San Antonio's average price of a home increased by 10 percent. Year-to-date, the average price has shown an increase of six percent year-over-year comparison, with this year's average price measured from January to July at $282,820.

In Bexar County in July, there were 5,167 active listings, and have been 3,066 total home sales in the county. In a county-by-county comparison, Bexar County's increase in home sales is significantly more than the other Texas counties. Bexar showed a 6.7 percent increase in sales from January-July 2020 vs. January-July 2019. Travis, Harris, and Dallas Counties showed an decrease in home sales of 5.9 percent, 1.7 percent, and two percent, respectively (YTD). Bexar County demonstrates a strong sales potential, as shown to have more sales than any other major county in Texas.

Additionally, pending sales for San Antonio for the month of July are listed at 3,472 homes. There were 4,284 new listings last month in the city, with an average of 57 days on the market, reflecting a favorable market for both sellers and buyers. (Source: SABOR Monthly Report)
