2021 will be a banner year for Janis Penick. In addition to celebrating 50 years of marriage with her husband, Charles, this marks her 20-year anniversary as a REALTOR® and she enthusiastically begins a new chapter in her career by joining Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty.
As the daughter of a West Point Colonel and former Inspector General at Ft. Sam Houston, and as a 3rd generation REALTOR®, Janis learned the importance of discipline, integrity and character at an early age. Her foundation in the business world started with the Fortune 500 giants 3M, Lanier Worldwide and Xerox. During her career in the business equipment industry, Janis developed skills in operations and sales management, customer service, leadership, problem-solving, communications, marketing and negotiation. After spending 30 years in corporate America, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her Mother and Grandmother and began her real estate career in 2001.
She has led an award-winning Team for the past 8 years and has been consistently recognized as the Top Producing Team in the Residential and Farm and Ranch categories, not only in Bastrop County, but also in the Austin area by placing as the #1 Team for 2020 with an international franchise. She was also a Platinum Top 50 winner in 2021.
Janis specializes in luxury residential listings, historic properties, country estates and farm and ranch properties in Bastrop County and the surrounding areas. She has earned prestigious industry designations for these specializations which include Accredited Land Consultant, Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist, Certified Residential Specialist, Graduate REALTOR® Institute, Senior Real Estate Specialist and she also has her Broker’s license.
She believes the most important quality is listening to her client’s criteria and focusing on helping them to achieve their goals. Nothing gives her more pleasure than to see the look in a Buyer’s eyes when they know they have walked into their future home, or sitting at the closing table with a client thanking her for a smooth transaction and for a job well-done.
Building relationships and keeping in touch with her clients and friends is Janis’s most important goal. She has had strong role models and mentors during the course of her life and wants to make a difference in other people’s lives.
Janis and Charles moved to Bastrop County in 1975 to their ranch outside of Smithville. They have seen Bastrop County grow and prosper over the years. They have both played an active part in the Bastrop and Smithville communities. Charles retired as the Bastrop County Criminal District Attorney after 25 years of public service and now spends his time ranching and golfing. They enjoy traveling to Hawaii each year to spend quality time together. In her spare time, Janis also enjoys golfing, cooking and swimming.
