My Favorite Halloween Haunts

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been looking forward to Halloween since the first pumpkin spiced latte of the season crossed the counter at your local Starbucks. At long last, it’s finally here! The costumes, the candy, distancing? It’s looking like our favorite spooky holiday is poised to become the latest victim of COVID-19. We may be stuck indoors, but we Texans have perfected the art of turning lemons into lemonade. Here at Kuper, our agents have been working tirelessly to connect their clients with extraordinary properties that make quarantine feel like an extended vacation. Here are some of my personal favorites, each equipped with a media center that’s perfect for celebrating the season with a luxurious private viewing of your favorite scary movie.

A Sweet Dream on Island Avenue 4400 Island Avenue Austin, Texas This relaxing private estate on the shores of Lake Austin is perfect for soothing scaredy-cats like me. From the cozy fireplace to the stunning panoramic views of its 1.6 acres of perfectly manicured grounds, it’s pure paradise. I might even manage to get through an entire season of The Haunting of Hill House if I could decompress by the waterfall between episodes!

Your Final Destination

One trip to this incredible hill country ranch and you’ll be cursed - from that moment on, every other home will seem small in comparison! The property has just about everything you need in your dream home. Climate-controlled wine cellar? Check. Beautiful, sprawling pool? Double check. Home movie theater just steps from the most invigorating outdoor entertainment area that you’ve ever seen? Of course! Trust me - you’ll never want to leave.

What’s more luxurious than a penthouse? This miracle of modern design is perfect for Austinites (or soon-to-be Austinites) that can’t get enough of the city’s unique atmosphere. It also features many extra amenities for pet lovers, including balconies outfitted with charcoal filtered turf. Plenty of couch space in the high-tech media room makes this space all the more ideal for a relaxing night in. You’ll adore the custom artwork and built-in security system - not that monsters bother climbing up to the 30th floor anyway.

The House on Orsinger Hill

Have you ever wanted to escape to a secluded French chateau with enormous windows and gorgeous gardens? I sure have. Nothing beats watching a movie about a spooky cabin in the woods in your very own (decidedly unspooky) private getaway. The devil is very much absent from each glorious little detail, but you might find yourself feeling a little devilish for keeping it all to yourself!

I Know What You’ll Do Next Summer

We’re all missing the outside world more than we ever thought we could right now. This incredible contemporary home is special in that it’s been carefully outfitted with materials sourced from all over the world. Enjoy a little bit of Germany, Italy, Spain, India, and even Japan fitted together in perfect harmony just minutes from the city. The enormous media room boasts a magnificent sound system and a 110” screen. Stay in this fall, and by next summer, you may just be inspired to take a more literal trip around the world.

The Not-So-Haunted Mansion

The Crown Jewel of Barton Creek is exactly what comes to mind when you picture a decadent European mansion. With spacious grounds, a full wet bar, and a whole-house music system among its many, many amenities, you and your family will be more than equipped to throw the most spectacular Halloween party that anyone from Austin to San Antonio has ever seen - even if you’re the only ones on the guest list.
