San Antonio Can't-Miss Events this January

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

In one of the largest cities in the country, there's always something to do. Check out all these exciting events for all ages!

McNay Art Museum presents "Paris: Notre Dame and Beyond"

The recent fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral served as a reminder of the special place Paris holds in the hearts and minds of people around the world. Even those who haven’t traveled to the City of Light know it as an iconic world center of culture, history, and art. This exhibition, drawn entirely from the McNay’s collection, celebrates Paris’ monuments and marvels.

Highlights include eight large-scale color lithographs by Henri Rivière, offering a soaring view of Paris from the heights of Notre-Dame. Eugène Viollet-le-Duc’s much-loved spire - which collapsed in the April fire - is hauntingly visible as it towers over the transept of the cathedral.

This exhibition is presented as a complement to the McNay’s installation, "Mary Cassatt’s Women." While Cassatt’s art focused on an interior, domestic, and familial world, the artists’ work in this unique installation features cityscapes during Belle Époque, the beautiful era in which Cassatt lived and worked in Paris.
